Laure Soustiel undertakes valuations and advisory work for private clients, collectors and museums. She identifies, authenticates and values Oriental works of art, and carries out valuations as well as inventories for insurance, division of estates, and inheritance purposes. Laure Soustiel also oversees sales between private individuals in total confidence, ensuring the satisfaction of both parties. She represents collectors and museums wishing to purchase a work of art, acting on their behalf as an agent or broker at public auctions, or in the framework of a private transaction.

A family history

The Soustiel company was founded under the Ottoman Empire in 1883 by Moïse Soustiel (1836-1916) who took over the company from his father Abraham. Based in Salonika (Thessaloniki), the family also owned several shops and warehouses in Istanbul, Sarajevo and Skopje. In 1913, the business was transferred to Istanbul, where it was run by Moïse’s son, Haïm (1871-1939). In 1921, his son Joseph Soustiel (1904-1990) left Istanbul for Paris…
